MP3Tagger

MP3Tagger is a freeware program intended for editing tags in multimedia sound files. As you already know, MP3 (MPEG Layer 3) is a music-file format. Every MP3 may contain an ID3 tag. This is actually a piece of information, stored right in that MP3 file. The ID3 tag has several cells you can set. These are the Song title, Artist, Album, Year, Genre, Comment and several more such as Composer, Original artist, Copyright, URL, Encoder Type, etc. All experienced and conscientious MP3 collectors maintain their ID3 tags and keep them up to date. Though, is very laborious to fill them in manually. Let’s take the classic MP3 player - WinAMP. Of course, you may use it to fill in the tags, but you have to browse through the files - one after another - press Alt+3 and enter all the desired information. But MP3Tagger is here to solve this problem.

MP3Tagger lets you modify any number of files at a time in an easy way. You may synchronize ID3v1 with ID3v2, name the file according to the tag or vice versa or format the letter capitalization in the file’s name. Using MP3Tagger, you may create a WinAMP playlist (m3u,pls), create a file listing for Excel (csv) or Notepad (txt) or generate it as a HTML page, all this with just one click. You may also ease your work and fasten boring tagging by downloading the information about your album from the FreeDB Internet database (www.freedb.org). MP3Tagger comes in handy when you download a lot of mp3 files, because they often have ridiculous names and should be renamed to a standard like ‘artist - title’. This app will help you do that - if the file already contains a ID3 tag you just click on the auto-renamer, and ping, the file has the correct name. If the file misses the tag but have the correct name, just click the auto-tagfiller, and the tag is filled with information from the filename.
Together with mp3Database you have a great suite for handling MP3 files! So, go ahead and download MP3Tagger, it’s just 300KB, and they ain’t wasted.
